Peace Day 2011 interfaith Conference

The Minority Coverage Foundation (MCF) organized a peace seminar in-collaboration with All Pakistan Mashi Tehrik (APMT) in account of World Peace Day 2011. The purpose of the seminar was to emphasize and reflect the struggles for peace and harmony in the country. The peace seminar particularly focused on the joint struggle for promotion of peace and tolerance.

Protest against assassination of Shahbaz Bhatti

Shahbaz Bhatti the Christian Minister for Minorities in Pakistan was shot dead nearby his home in Islamabad. His car was said to be riddled with bullets and the Federal Minister was pronounced dead on arrival to hospital.

Protested against Asia Bibi arrest

Pakistani Christian woman who was convicted of blasphemy by a Pakistani court, receiving a sentence of death by hanging. The verdict, which would need to be upheld by a superior court, has received worldwide attention. If executed, Noreen would be the first woman in Pakistan to be lawfully killed for blasphemy.Christian minister Shahbaz Bhatti and Pakistani government politician Salmaan Taseer were both assassinated for opposing the blasphemy laws.

MCF protested against Gojjra Violence

Around eight people have died, including one child, and many were injured in the violence that engulfed the Gojra, Punjab. Following the allegation by some local Muslims on Friday that some Christians have desecrated the Holy Quran, a violent mob burned down 70 houses belonging to the Christians to ashes in riots that went on for two days. On Saturday, a violent mob attacked the Christians community which resulted in eight deaths and ten injuries. According to many eye-witnesses interviewed on various television channels, the attacks were conducted in a very organized manner. The government has completely failed to control the situation and take any stern action against the perpetrators of violence.

Capacity Building Workshop

Lack of awareness and training are the main reasons why people find it difficult to access information from various government bodies. Civil society organizations, especially those working at the grassroots in rural areas need to be aware about this landmark legislation in our country. More importantly they have the specific responsibility to spread awareness about this Act amongst the people and monitor its implementation. The workshop was designed with a focus on maximising discussion amongst participants with a particular emphasis on group work. During the course of the conference various problems arising out of the poor implementation of the Right to Information.

Pakistan Inter Faith Conference

National Peace Commity of Interfaith and Harmony Pakistan, where all human beings can practice their faith without fear , by accepting and respecting each other's faiths. Yes it’s true that many wars and conflicts have started over religion. Now here’s an electronic book that shows you how purposeful inter-religious dialogues can actually bring about peace. Each community is different, with different personalities and issues of concern, so all participants can adapt or modify these guidelines to meet their particular circumstances. The dialogues need not be elaborate, it is only important that people gather to share and listen, and hopefully work together for the future of their societies.

Inter Faith International Conference

The Melbourne Parliament offers the opportunity to continue with the reconciliation process that the Australian government began by apologizing to Indigenous people for the wrongs committed against them. The Parliament provides the occasion to focus on the struggle against poverty across the world with the aim of making poverty history. As the world faces challenges of consumption and sustainability, access to food and water for all people has become a pressing concern. Religious and spiritual communities can collaborate with one another and other guiding institutions to work to reverse the conditions of injustice and poverty that provide breeding grounds for extremism.
